Good ep, but I wish they'd spent less time on Mermaid Douluo being cute and more on TS's new Red ring. This is kind of a big deal lol. I wasn't expecting the same fanfare as his 7th break through but this felt really anticlimactic, especially since it barely filled 15sec of screen time. The whole point and purpose of the SG Trials is, afterall, a convenient excuse to rapidly advance our MCs. So power-ups of any kind should be highly emphasized rather than an afterthought, especially if it's coming at the expense of story progression, which is why I believe many are starting to get bored.

Tbh, one of my favorite aspects of SG Trials was Mubai's chummy competition with TS in the novel. I can only imagine his thoughts after seeing TS's 4th red ring LOL.
1st: "It was Sacrificed...I'm still Boss"
2nd: "So that's why he's BS Emperor"
3rd: "Shit...it's over"
4th: "That's my Bro" 🤣

Looking forward to next week though. If TS x Sea Dragon Douluo is anything like the novel we're in for a treat.

I love your fitting summary of Mubai's inner turmoils!! 😂 In fact, this is exactly what the Seagod Island arc is missing: the camaraderie between the Shrek brothers. I don't mind they that shifted their focus on the pairings instead, but they should not have done away with all the chummy banters, "boys jokes", etc. Damn, they owe me Oscar's demonstration of his 7th ring ability!

I told you, I started listening to the audiobook although I barely understood half of it but the spirit of brotherhood was so heart-warming and utterly hilarious to listen to. You don't even need to understand the language to feel their bond. I still go back from time to time just to listen to the part where everyone especially the boys cracked up from Oscar's firm and erect "gold fly"! 🤣

Sigh, they would rather fixate on girls being cute and adorable. Maybe this is cultural clash? I just don't find girls-being-cute as something so entertaining. I'd rather watch girls being badass and kick ass. However, if you go to the Chinese fan site, all the fans (I assume majority of them are girls) gush and rave about how cute and sweet XW is. There is only so much of sugar I can take. Anything more is an overdose! Anyway, enough of my ranting. Your not-so-afterthought is always a pleasure to read!

Aha I'd feel defeated too if I was Mubai and TS was my rival smh!! But he wasn't ever in the game to begin with, never had a chance from the beginning, glad he's proud of TS though.

Today’s episode is a bit more placid but no less arresting. I’m actually getting bored with all the fight scenes. But the seductive dance and devilish tune is right up my alley. This is something you’d never find in any Hollywood blockbuster. Reminded me of one of my earliest Chinese wuxia film highly recommended by my Chinese friends: Green Snake?? It’s too long ago I can’t even remember the title. It was about two sister snake demons who tried to seduce a Chinese monk.

Back to DD, yes I can’t wait for them to leave the island but if they do follow the chronology of the novel, it will take at least another 3 weeks if not 4. Dragon Douluo is only the penultimate fight. I’m actually more looking forward to TS’s last fight with Bo Saixi. Today they gave TS’s glory to the girls instead. Of course in the novel he was the one directing their every move. But this is fine with me. His teammates deserve some limelight too. I just hope in the last fight, they will show TS’ tactical genius in its entirety.

Hmm, can't really say Tang San was directing their every move here, since the mermaid Douluo they faced here could apparently read minds, and Tang San withdrew the spirit or whatever he used to give them advice and all😕

But I agree, though it's honestly not the Donghua that is getting us bored, it's the Sea God Trials Arc that have just been taking months now that's boring😐

I didn’t say TS directed their every move in this episode. I meant to say, he did that in the novel but the production team gave the glory to the girls instead. I just feel a bit unfair for Dai Mubai. He’s supposed to be the strongest after TS but his fight was credited to TS. Yet all his teammates after him actually won the fights by themselves which of course was not the case.

The studio cant have Dai Mubai overshine Tang San can they? After all Tang San is the goldenboy, would be nice to share the credits around to make Tang San a bit more human

And I agree with what happened with Mubai, but if Tang San really did direct that battle, it makes sense since Mubai probably would've lost if didn't figure it out himself, but I can't say for sure since that's not what happened.

YES! I totally agree the TS's Mermaid song challenge/bet was by far the highlight of the entire ep. Really liked what the animators did there and I loved the BG music.

Sheesh the Mermaid Flute was Epic, Then came TS powerup even more epic. Great Episode just a bit too much unnecessary talking other than that it was great.

It's annoying we're still at Sea God Trials, but I did expect this to take a while, and since the other members of the Shrek Seven Devils are soon finishing their test, the Douluo Mainland, meaning the Tian Dou Empire, Shrek Academy, and Tang Sect is about to get their most needed reinforcements😤

I must say though, this episode was somewhat refreshing since it's not the typical battle we get, and the Titled Douluo here is quite the personality, maybe because she's a mermaid, or because of her powers, or dare I say because she's a girl, she gives off a light feeling rather than the intense from the Titled Douluo they've dealt with so far😌
